WHY EDUCATION FORWARD EXISTS
Homes are complex.
Plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, roofing, drainage and other systems work together. When homeowners understand the basics, they are better prepared to notice changes, ask useful questions and make informed decisions.
Education Forward does not teach people to become contractors or replace qualified professionals.
It gives homeowners the practical understanding they were rarely taught.

Peter Last
Founder and Creator
Education Forward by Common Sense Factor®
Peter brings more than 40 years of hands-on experience across skilled trades, home maintenance, construction, fire protection, gas fitting, hardware retail and homeowner education.
His experience also includes home inspector training and years of helping homeowners understand maintenance concerns, project planning and the systems they depend on every day.
Much of Peter’s knowledge came through practical experience, mentorship and working alongside people who understood their trades.
That kind of knowledge was once commonly passed from one generation to the next. Today, fewer people grow up around the trades, and many enter homeownership without a clear understanding of how their homes function.
Education Forward was created to help preserve and share that practical knowledge in a clear, useful and responsible way.
FROM PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE TO HOMEOWNER EDUCATION
Peter’s experience led to the creation of Common Sense Factor® Home Maintenance: The Practical Knowledge Every Homeowner Should Know.
The book brings practical homeowner knowledge together in one organized resource. It helps readers understand major home systems, recognize early warning signs, plan maintenance and know when professional help may be needed.
The purpose is simple:
Help homeowners understand their homes before they are forced to make decisions under pressure.
A Broader Community Idea
As Education Forward developed, another possibility became clear.
